What Is Memestonk?
A memestonk is a memecoin with a real tokenized-stock treasury underneath it, on Robinhood Chain. When a memestonk launches, most of the ETH raised is used to buy a tokenized stock (say, tokenized NFLX) and that stock sits in an on-chain treasury tied to the token. You can read the treasury balance yourself, and you can burn your tokens to redeem a share of it.
Memestonk is the platform that launches and hosts these tokens. The memecoin is the culture; the treasury is the receipt.
What makes it different
- A tokenized-stock treasury. Each launch holds real tokenized stock in a treasury contract, not a vague “reserve.” The asset, the balance, and the contract that holds it are all on-chain and verifiable.
- Fee-fed treasury mechanics. A share of trading fees is used to buy more of the backing stock over time. Redemptions burn tokens, which shrinks supply. Both push the backing per remaining token in the same direction: up in stock units.
- Penalty-adjusted burn-to-redeem. You can always burn your tokens to take your pro-rata share of the treasury, minus a redemption penalty. That penalty-adjusted redemption is what people mean by the token’s effective floor: a mechanism, denominated in the treasury asset, not a guaranteed price.
What a memestonk is not
A memestonk is a crypto token. It is not the stock, and holding it gives you no rights in the underlying company.
- It is not stock or a share, and it does not make you a shareholder.
- It gives you no claim on the underlying company, and no voting or dividend rights.
- It is not a yield product. There is no interest, no APY, and no promised return.
- Curation is an editorial and cultural filter. It is not financial or regulatory approval, and it is not an endorsement of the token as an investment.
Whether any particular token is treated as a security or regulated instrument depends on applicable law and your circumstances. This documentation describes how the mechanism works, not its legal status.
The one thing to internalize
The label on a memestonk tells you nothing. The treasury tells you everything. Don’t trust the name. Open the treasury and read the balance.
